Generic Fantasy Characters (for low level Eberron game)

Postby Nikdo » Wed Apr 05, 2006 4:19 am

Greetings all. I'm trying to get some of my friends interested in True20 so I told them I'd run a demo game this Friday (4/7) with pre-gen characters. Unfortunately, I'm running out of time. It wouldn't take me long to whip up a few characters but I'd rather focus on coming up with an interesting scenario. Can you guys help out? I have 4-5 people playing, all long time gamers (mostly DnD, CoC, and WoD). I'll probably set the scenario in Eberron so any low-level (1-3) fantasy characters would work.

Thanks in advance,

Here is a "necromancer" type psychic. As I'm unfamiliar with Eberron you'll have to create the character's background.

Techar Ateneru

Role: Adept, Level: 1
Background: Human (fisher-folk)
Str -1, Dex +0, Con +2, Int +2, Wis +3, Cha +0
Conviction: 3, Reputation: +1
Toughness: +2, Fortitude: +2, Reflex +0, Will +5

Skills: Concentration 4 (+7), Intimidate 4 (+4), Medicine 4 (+7), Notice 4 (+7), Knowledge (theology and philosophy) 4 (+6), Knowledge (supernatural) 4 (+6), Survival 4 (+7) [bonus from background]
Feats: Endurance [bonus from background]
Favored Feats: Eye for Treachery [from Caliphate Nights], Master Plan
Powers: (rank 4, Wisdom, save DC 11) *Imbue Life +7, Mind Touch +7, *Scrying +7, Water Shaping +7
*The concept is that this character requires water when Imbuing Life or Scrying; I imagine the character refers frequently to "the waters of life and death." Perhaps he had a NDE in water? You might substitute one power for a "Spirit Sense" power, "Summon Ghost" power, or the Ghost Touch power if spirits will feature prominently in the game.

Here's another one...

Ransack

Role: Warrior 1
Level: 1
Background: Warforged

Str: +3
Dex: +2
Con: +3
Int: +0
Wis: -1
Cha: -1

(+2 Con, -1 Wis, -1 Cha)

Conviction: 3 Reputation: +0
Defense: 13(Dodge) 14(Parry) Attack: +3
Toughness: +3 Fortitude: +3 Reflex: +2 Will: +0

Feats: Diehard(Background), Warforged Armor*(Background), Light Sleeper**(Background), Weapon Training, Cleave, Improved Sunder, Rage

Favored Feats: Tough, Diehard

Languages: Common

Ransack's primary mission in the Last War was to destabilize the enemy with shock and awe attacks. He would charge into an encampment in a rage, hewing through guards, breaking equipment, sabotaging machinery, and blowing things up with alchemist's fire (which was provided to him, though he is learning how to make it himself). After the war, Ransack, like many others, sold his skills to the highest bidder.

*Warforged Armor: (Warforged only) +2 Armor bonus. Cannot wear other armor. Does not stack.
**Technically they don't sleep at all, but this is pretty much the same thing.

Str: +2
Dex: +3
Con: +1

I really like how you handled the Warforged. I may steal it.

Thanks! I pretty much based it off of their stats in the Eberron book but tried to keep it simple. He lacks Fortification, for example, but that's a little less important and can always be taken as some sort of optional feat later...

Simple is great, and you hit all the important flavor. My favorite type of conversion. But I'll end the thread hijack now.

Hey guys. Thanks again for the help. I used the above characters plus I created a Kalashtar Psychic Warrior and a Dwarf Artificer. The players weren't familiar with either Eberron or True20 so everything was brand new to them. To tell the truth, they had the hardest time with the setting (which is no fault of True20) and the Damage system (which takes a little getting used to for old time D&D players).

As far as the scenario goes, I ran a few modified scenes from the Lost Forge adventure from the Eberron book. We didn't get a lot done but I accomplished my goal of introducing them to True20. Now I think I can push it for my Tekumel game this summer :D

Overall, the game was a success with lots of action and cool fun.

Nikdo please post'em. 8)

It would be neat if this topic could just pile up low level characters!
